Easter at Longleat
Easter eggs and chocolate are just some of the treats we love most about Easter time. Even better are all the goings-on at Longleat of course! Keep reading to learn more about our favourite things to do in Wiltshire this Easter.
Easter Egg Hunt
For thousands of years eggs have been a symbol of fertility, new beginnings and rebirth. Decorating eggs is a custom that is practiced all around the world at different times of the year, but it was only in the 19th century that the eggs we know and love today came into existence. Did you know that the first chocolate egg in the UK is believed to have been made by JS Fry of Bristol in 1873?
We’re sure all this talk of eggs is making you hungry, so once you have had your fill of your favourite chocolate eggs why not head to Longleat for an Easter Egg Hunt around the estate! From the 15th – 22nd April nine unusual eggs will be hidden for you to find. Grab your trail sheet and your family and see how many you can find. There might be a treat waiting for you at the end…
Opening on the 29th March at Longleat Safari Park, you will be able to see koalas for the first time ever! What can’t think of a better treat for Easter. Boasting indoor and outdoor habitats you will be able to get up close to Australians beloved animals – so close in fact, that you could almost touch them (but we obviously don’t advise that!) This new exhibit makes Longleat the only English collection of koalas around – not forgetting that they are the only place in Europe where you can see southern koalas.
