New Year Cycle Routes in Wiltshire
As we begin to wrap up what has been an unpredictable 2016, there’s no better way to free your mind and body than with a scenic cycle across some of the most picturesque parts of the Wiltshire countryside.
To give you a starting point for planning your Wiltshire cycle experience, here are a couple of the most popular paths and cycle routes to help you out…
The Wylye Valley Cycle Route (33km or 20.5 miles)
If you’re resting you head at our Wiltshire accommodation, this route is highly convenient with beautiful scenery along the way. Starting only a stone’s throw from our family friendly accommodation, the Wylye Valley cycle route passes by Crockerton and our sister property Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa.
After this, it follows through numerous picturesque villages such as Sutton Veny, Tytherinton, Corton, Boyton, Sherrington and Stockton for around 8 miles. The route eventually wraps up in the historic city of Salisbury, home to the stunning Cathedral. If you think a round trip by bike might be a little much for one day, why not catch the train back afterwards to Warminster.
Wylye Valley and Grove Wood (15km or 9.5 miles)
Is 33km maybe a little bit ambitious? Not for some but for us on a full Christmas tummy, most definitely! A shorter version of the Wylye Valley cycle route is also an option. Starting from the Bath Arms, this moderate cycling adventure take you along many a quaint country road through the raw organic countryside making it perfect for families, friends and relatives to enjoy on a winters morning or afternoon. If you put in the leg work you can reward yourself afterwards with some fine Wiltshire fare at The Bath Arms.
