Things to do in Wiltshire this Christmas…
As the nights draw in and the temperatures creep towards zero; there is one thing we can be certain about and that is Christmas is on the way.
During the run up to the festive season, it’s super easy to get a carried away Christmas shopping or perhaps trying to tie up a million and one loose ends at work before the New Year begins. But let’s not forget what Christmas is all about…
Whilst time may seem ‘of the essence’, it’s important to remember that this wonderful time of year is meant to be about family and togetherness. This year, there is no better way to celebrate this than by embracing many of the magnificent things to do with the kids in Wiltshire and here are a few of our favourites.
Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt National Arboretum
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening from 25th November to 18th December, Westonbirt Arboretum comes alive with a spectacular array of warm and wonderful lighting. Stretching over a mile, the majestic lighting offers a sentimental festive feeling which will set the mood for a prosperous Christmas break.
Tickets are priced from £12 for adults, £6 for children and friends of the Westonbirt while children under five are eligible to come for free of charge.
Back this by popular demand is Longleat’s extra special Festival of Light. Opening on the 11th November, Longleat’s most dazzling spectacle will be revisiting the tranquil Wiltshire countryside with a Beatrix Potter twist to mark the 150th year anniversary of the famous novel.
This year, Longleat’s lantern display promises to be bigger and better than ever before with some of the most iconic lanterns measuring between 20 and 70 metres each! For those looking at making it an overnight affair, why not rest your head at one of the top places to stay near Longleat, The Bath Arms? We have a variety of Longleat accommodation for those look for more than just a B&B near Longleat including Homewood Park and Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa.
