Bar & Restaurant
The bar and restaurant at Longleat has two areas – a traditional Public Bar, primarily for our locals and for drinking in, and a second as a dining bar. The well-conditioned beers come from local breweries. At lunch time the same menu is served in all areas of the hotel, including our front and back terraces and gardens, bars and restaurant. You can have what you want where you want it. In the evening the restaurant has an even more enticing and local menu.
While we are proud of our two AA rosettes, it is not our ambition to get Michelin Stars. Our team of talented chefs, headed by Chris Gregory, offer simple and beautifully cooked British and local food at a reasonable price. We would like to be known for that alone. We don’t do towers and drizzles and we don’t do fusion or even Mediterranean (well maybe an occasional pasta). We are not xenophobic but we believe in our local suppliers and what they can offer. Using local suppliers is at the heart of the hotel's ethos and our aim is for the main raw ingredients of each dish to be supplied from within 50 miles of the Hotel. There is an emphasis on traditional preserving methods - smoking, curing, potting and pickling, etc – and on the use of game, fish, rare breed and offal. Our chef combines all these ingredients to create an original and sumptuous menu, with dishes to suit every palate. The wine list includes a selection of British offerings among a well-balanced global selection (sourced from our local expert) and we offer a distinguished list of Sherries, Ports, Brandies, Malt Whiskies and Eaux de Vie, along with the more classic aperitifs and other digestifs.
